I have worked at Advantica, formerly the Research and Development arm of British Gas Corporation, for almost 24 years during which time I published almost 100 technical reports. As a Solution Manager, I managed a team of twenty scientists/engineers working on a wide range of projects associated with the utilisation of natural gas.
I led a Joint Industry Programme Addressing Carbon Monoxide Issues comprising 12 projects supported by national and international organisations to the tune of £1.7m. This included working with Government and Industry to help ensure a positive approach is made towards carbon monoxide problems.
I have been directly involved in extensive studies characterising the build-up of unburnt natural gas as well as combustion products within a property and been a member of two prominent British Standards panels – Flueing and Ventilation of Gas Appliances (GSE/30/15) and Use of Electronic Combustion Gas Analysers (GSE/30/21). In addition I have also worked as an expert witness for Industry and Government departments alike.
